Oil on Linen

Artist James Daniel, from Asheville, North Carolina, paints and draws in a variety of mediums.  James began exhibiting and winning awards for his work at the age of eight and he still has those early pieces in the family collection.  When he was nine years old, his family moved to Atlanta where he was enrolled in the Fay Gold studio for painting and drawing.  It was there that he encountered the unique smell of oil paint that is as fresh today in his memory as it was then.  He was enrolled in Galloway for Middle School where he continued to pursue artistic endeavors and first began to hear the names Michelangelo and Leonardo.  His fate was sealed upon hearing those names.  Now, James is trained in both the French Academic and Italian Renaissance methods of painting and drawing and he continues to win awards, many of which are from the Salmagundi Club in New York City and juried exhibits around the United States.  James has artwork on view in his Asheville studio, which is open to visitors by appointment, and, accepts proposals for commissions of portraits, murals, and frescoes.

James is currently exhibiting at Besharat Gallery in Atlanta, GA. and Alchemy Gallery in Asheville, NC.
